Well, it is official. The New Orleans Saints are headed to Miami for their first ever Super Bowl. If you did not see the NFC Championship Game, you must watch it on video replay. It was a thrill a minute roller coaster ride.

So what do the Super Bowl and New Orleans Style Cooking have in common? The big Super Bowl Party, of course!

New Orleans is known for its parties and nightlife. Even though the Saints have never played in the the big game, New Orleans football fans enjoy BIG in-home Super Bowl parties to celebrate. They leave Bourbon Street and the French Quarter to out-of-towners to celebrate.

You will experience dining at its finest at these parties. We are talking holiday fare - A full spread of scrumptious delicacies.

What could be on the menu? Spinach and Crab Dips are the ice breakers. A party would not be of a party without Seafood Gumbo and Jambalaya. BBQ ribs, potato salad, cheesy mixed vegetable casserole are also headliners. Chess squares and sweet potato pie are just 2 of the desserts. Special beverages will be served.

There are rules of etiquette for attending these parties. You must arrive early. You eat before the game and during half time (at least in the rooms where the televisions are). If you arrive late, there is a price to be paid. Chances are, you will not be served, not until half time.

These are the rules for normal Super Bowl Parties. Now that the Saints will be participating in the big game, I will add, you must be a Saints fan. Cheering for the Colts at an in-home Saints party could be dangerous! Just kidding, I think! It is a certainty that the owner of the home will ask you to leave or just not feed you!

In New Orleans, you must wear or bring Saints paraphernalia for luck (not that they need it). This includes Saints tee shirts, earrings, sweaters, pants, caps, key chains and mugs. I have even seen Saints pajamas!

For those of you not living in New Orleans, you can have your own Saints Super Bowl Party. Send out fancy invitations and explain the rules of etiquette. There are many Cajun appetizers that taste so good and are so easy to fix, you will be the hit of the party!

The loyal Saints fans have waited a long time. Whether you are a Saints or Colts fan, the goodies at a Cajun Super Bowl party can really be enjoyed by anyone!

Go SAINTS!
